Wilmington, Del. — Saga Infrastructure Solutions today announced it is expanding its network of regional engineering companies with the acquisition of construction utility contractor RBC Utilities, based in the Charlotte (N.C.) region.
The acquisition supports Saga’s goals of acquiring and supporting regional civil construction companies, empowering them to operate independently while benefiting from the resources of a larger network.
RBC Utilities owner and president Bill Cummings will remain actively involved over the next 12 months to ensure a smooth transition.
“Bill’s ongoing involvement over the next 12 months ensures stability and continuity. His guidance will be instrumental in maintaining the standards and culture that define RBC Utilities, while helping us integrate with the larger Saga team,” said Don Larsen, CEO of Saga.
Since 2008, RBC Utilities has grown into one of the most trusted utility contractors in the Carolinas. It specializes in the installation and maintenance of water lines, sanitary sewer lines, and storm drain lines, for both commercial and residential development.
Saga is spearheading a regional growth strategy across the Piedmont Atlantic, Florida, Texas, Colorado, and the Arizona Sun Corridor—five of the fastest-growing regions in the United States. As part of this strategy, RBC Utilities will continue to operate under its current name. All existing agreements and service levels will continue uninterrupted, and no layoffs are being considered at this time.
While the core of RBC Utilities will remain intact, Saga will introduce new technology and systems to help streamline tasks, enhance communication, and strengthen support both in the field and in the office. Through future investments, Saga anticipates increased resources, operational support, and career development opportunities across the company.
“We are excited about what lies ahead. As RBC Utilities becomes part of the broader Saga Infrastructure Solutions network, our ability to serve our customers will only strengthen. We’ll be in a better position to support more complex projects, access new technologies, and deliver faster, smarter solutions—always anchored in the trusted team, integrity and quality service for which we are known,” Cummings said.
